CB: Welcome to My New Home & Catching a Breath

As many of you probably noticed, and what hopefully brought you here, was my latest post on my old blog-address. Yes, the title was a total clickbait moment but I don’t get many of those, so I hope you forgive me that one. In other words, welcome to my new home, my own little special corner of the Internet brought to you through sweat, tears and hours worth of “how to” articles: it’s been a blast! So even if there are some bugs I still need to fix, I hope you feel as welcomed here as you did over at mettelray.wordpress.com. So welcome, and enjoy!

So as mentioned last week, I had a birthday, which went well and then I also was trying to get this little baby up and running, which took a lot of my time. But thankfully, Sofia over at Returning Videotapes, was not only being great at moral support, she also helped me out a lot with the technical stuff! I couldn’t have done it without her! But honestly, a lot of it is just trying to figure things out on the go, and whipping out your credit card at crucial moments. And here we are, at mettelray.com! Which is so crazy to say, but I’ve been wanting to do this for so long, that it felt fitting that right before Mettel Ray’s 8th birthday (in May), I managed to make this huge transition.

Other than that, as mentioned, I’m gonna catch a small breath during the second half of February, meaning, I’m probably not going to make my 5 times a week posting schedule. I’ve now extended myself so far, that I’m falling behind, neglecting my actual work (which I should be doing right now!), and probably skipping sleep for a few days to catch up. But if things go well, I hope to be back in action in March, with tons of reviews, because I’ve seen so many movies!

No week goes by without a Sam movie, so last week I saw two, Charlie’s Angels and Better Living Through Chemistry. First one, shockingly bad, and horrible, but luckily Sam was tied up so that merited for a 1 star rating from me. The other movie, not great either, because I had already seen it and somehow forgotten that, but it was still much better! Plus, as I already knew, because Margaret saw it, that it had a lot to grab onto as a fangirl. And just like these two Sam movies, the other four movies I saw this week were also split in half in terms of being good and very bad.

Decided to watch When We First Met, a Netflix romantic comedy, because I actually like Adam Devine and turns out, I’ve yet to be disappointed in that man. The movie was fun, quirky, a little bit rough around the edges, super predictable, but sweet! I’ll have a review up soon-ish. Then I tortured myself with Fifty Shades Freed…….. I’ll get back to you on that one too. Then, since it was Valentine’s Day last week, I felt very romantic, and rewatched The Wedding Date. Then for some reason, we decided to watch Special Correspondents with my flatmate, and we were so bored we were started to play Candy Crush and colour during it. Not a good sign.

For shows, I’m actually still going through Altered Carbon because I didn’t want it to end, so I went back to the beginning and started to watch it when I wasn’t sleep deprived (as I was during the first time). So I started from the beginning, and now I took a small break. It’s still a great shot, there’s just a lot going on at once and I suck at focusing a the moment.

Then, since Netflix has totally taken over my life, I also watched Everything Sucks! and it was pretty good! It’ not the best show out there, but the 90’s music flash backs and the character developments make it all worth it. There are a few flaws here and there, but mostly, it was a fun ride and I liked it better than The End of the F*cking World.

I finished, finally, Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes and I was eventually a little more impressed but not much. The story had a great foundation, but the plot was so rushed!

Then I picked up Call Me By Your Name, and The Serpent King at the same time, and I read either one of them depending my mood. Yep, that’s now a thing, me reading multiple books at the same time.

As I said, I tortured myself with Fifty Shades Freed last week, but what I neglected to mention was the fact that I actually enjoyed the soundtrack. The soundtrack was like the best part of the movie, this song in particular!
