As someone who has been obsessively into K-pop and is now slowly transitioning into a more “normal” fan, I was still genuinely excited to watch K-pop Demon Hunters. Had I heard about it before it was released and people started raving about it? Not at all. But the moment I did, I was intrigued—excited, even if I hadn’t been anticipating it beforehand.
Produced by Sony Studios, K-pop Demon Hunters follows the world-famous K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, who secretly moonlight as demon hunters. Their glamorous lives on stage are a sharp contrast to their underground mission of saving the world. Things take a turn when a mysterious new group arrives: the Saja Boys—who, plot twist, are actual demons helping their leader attempt world domination.

I started watching it late at night, unsure whether it would win me over. But by the end, I was completely hooked. While the storyline isn’t entirely groundbreaking, the unique blend of K-pop, demons, and Korean cultural elements gives K-pop Demon Hunters a fresh and exciting vibe.
The film’s vibrant visuals, slick action sequences, and top-tier animation made for a fantastic viewing experience. It gave me the same adrenaline rush I felt watching Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While that film still holds the edge in some areas, K-pop Demon Hunters surpasses it in one major way: the music.
I’ve had the soundtrack on repeat for days—especially the songs performed by the fictional groups HUNTR/X and Saja Boys. My favourite? Your Idol by Saja Boys. That scene was a visual and musical standout, perfectly animated and delivered with impact. Every other track is just as catchy and full of energy—it’s honestly hard to pick just one favourite.
This film also makes for great family viewing. If your household includes a K-pop fan or two—and a few curious but clueless relatives—K-pop Demon Hunters could be the perfect intro to the genre’s charm.
(And just to clarify: there are no actual demons in K-pop… unless we’re counting sasaengs.)
