We finish this love fest month with television shows about romance and let me be honest, this was a very difficult theme! Not because I wouldn’t have anything to recommend but because I could list of shows left and right. So I wanted to pick a theme within a theme that narrowed down my options, made my life a little easier. I hope you like what I came up with!
1. PEYTON & JAKE in ONE TREE HILL (2003 – 2012)
First of all, yes, the romance theme is narrowed down by picking certain couples from television shows. BUT the list is even more narrowed down by this little sad notion – the shows have ended and they didn’t make it. Yes, this week I’m talking about three TV couples who I think were a perfect match but who were broken up. First up is one of my all time favourite teen shows (up until its 4th season) called One Tree Hill. There we have two teenagers named Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and Jake (Bryan Greenberg) who meet in season 1 and become friends. Soon sparks fly and they get together. It’s a beautiful relationship and them breaking up still hurts my cold heart. It almost worked out too which makes it even sadder. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one when I say this… they should have been endgame.

2. ALICIA & WILL in THE GOOD WIFE (2009 – 2016)
Nothing breaks up an OTP (one true pairing) like DEATH! Yeah, spoiler alert, one of them dies and the show is not called The Good Husband so you can guess which one. Anyway, this is a drama show that focuses a lot on law and lawyering but there was always an undercurrent of romance between Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Will (Josh Charles) there too. Well, until he DIED! Okay, so yes, I’m still mad about it because the show really suffered after Charles left. Partly because Charles softened Margulies a bit and added that much needed romance to the show. His death is still embedded in my brain and it’s the most vivid thing I remember from the show. And Jeffrey Dean Morgan showed up so you can imagine how much Will’s death hurt me. Not sure which is worse. Not getting the endgame or not ever having even the possibility of an endgame because one of them is DEAD! Oh no, I know which is even worse… hint, it’s my last pick.
3. RORY & JESS in

GILMORE GIRLS (2000 – 2007; 2016)
This hurts the most I think, despite all the other heartbreaks I’ve had together with television couples, Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) not making it is awful. Especially since they had a chance to FIX IT in 2016 and THEY DIDN’T! Can you tell I’m still mad? Well, I am. Part of me liked Logan (Matt Czuchry) too, don’t get me wrong but Jess was the one for Rory. It pains me to think they will never get the ending they deserved. There were problems during the original run and Jess was too much of a bad boy. But the show had such a good footing to make them endgame in the revival that it’s even more painful now than it was before. Jess grew up, he changed, he should have ended up with Rory and the fact that they gave her THAT ending is just… (pardon my French) bullshit! Anyway, I’m still clearly very mad about this so I would rather not continue because I’m afraid I’d break my keyboard. Moral of this list, sometimes even the greatest of romances don’t become endgame.
